Palm Pre – 1 week later – Some new things I’ve Discovered
thefluxlife posted:
Some I am about 1 week on the Palm Pre and I wanted to answer some more of your questions as well as cover some new things I’ve discovered about the Pre that I havent seen in any reviews yet. I am not saying that haven’t been covered before, because I haven’t watched EVERY review but there are some things that are new to me at least. Hope you enjoy.
Note: Youtube video credit goes to owner/uploader. Thanks!

Perhaps the biggest thing it lacks compared to the iPhone is Apps (but more coming everyday) and accessories. You can find accessories for an iPhone just about anywhere, but not so much for the Pre. Other than that, it uses regular MP3s and other audio files. I use it as my primary MP3 player and I think it works great for that. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Uploading a video in a few minutes for you. I don’t go into detail about transferring pics from your computer to your phone so if you need more info about that, let me know.
Check out the second half of the new video. The first part shows people how to change wallpapers on their phone, which is another question I get asked a lot. The second part shows how to set your images from the net as your wallpaper which I think is what you are looking for..

Yep, you can pick any image that’s on the phone, or even on the web (via downloading it to your phone) and set it as your background on your phone.

For the problem you had around 3:30ish, about the dial pad disappearing, I’ve found that if you shake or tilt the phone backwards and fore wards it comes back.
I have to use extensions every time I call my mom or dad at work and I’m able to use the dial pad no problem, without having to open the keyboard.

nice addition

I also use the swipe up to bring up the launcher.
Symbian
funny, i never use the button thingy to get out of an app. i find it easier to do the mini-swipe up from the “gesture area” to the screen. it’s a very small swipe and works really well, especially when you plan to exit a program completely
Windows Mobile
wow this helped me i dnt have the pre yet but i have been watching videos and i saw yours and u have aculy explained more than people who are ment to review these phones haha

Also, if you click on the icon for the page before you add it to the launcher, you can change what it displays as the icon.
Click on it, it’ll load the page in the background, with a white box in the foreground and you can zoom in and around the page to select what you want to use as the launcher icon.

Join one of the pre forums around, they’re awesome at giving you all the tips and tricks surrounding the phone.

I’ve started using both a lot and they work great!

I haven’t read any of the comments past the first page so if i repeat information, my bad. If your keypad goes away during a call you can bring it back up with one of the 4 buttons below the end button (first is speaker phone, then mic mute, then keypad, then add caller). Also the phone has a proximity detector so if when u put the phone up to your ear it will blank the screen. Although I tested this out with my hand while calling my voicemail ^^.
