How to Create loopable wallpapers for Nokia N900
The Nokia N900 lets you have 4 wallpapers in the panoramic desktop. I’ll show you how to create a set of wallpapers that are seamlessly connected. I’ll also show you what file you need to group the images together. In summary: Get an equirectangular photo Crop it to 3200 x 480 Slice it into 4 images of 800×480 images Create a .desktop file to group the images Transfer the 5 files to N900/images folder

wow, thanks alot for that!
smart
hope this helps. after making the text file in notepad, DO NOT save it as a text file. In the Save As type, select All Files. it will save with the .desktop extension.
Would be nice to get a comment from the author regarding the people who’s devices don’t recognize the text file. Perhaps he has some insight on how to fix it?
Great tutorial. Thanks for putting this up.
Worked perfectly.
Thanks
Same issue as others – text file, pics, everything is perfect, but phone doesn’t recognize the text file, so I end up having to add each pic, one by one.
wow this is pretty damn cool Thanks for sharing!
it didnt work for me it show the name but when I selete it it doesnt show the pic btw I put 16GB micro sd card on my N900 and it work first day and now its not working.. I try all the method on google and maemo site.. it doesnt work… do you have any idea why is this happen..??
Worked perfectly
Thx!
You don’t need to use this method…
Just split any picture into 4 pieces, transfer those to your phone and then put those on by to each wallpaper (in the right order ofcourse) you don’t need to do anything for the size of the images!
I had to add each image one by one on each desktop ..
I can’t seem to get this to work … the images all transfered .. but it doesnt show up on the image set section of the background images
grazie mille
one question though: xD
the (in the vid) /home/user/MyDocs/ has to be changed into the path of my jpegs then, no?
How to make a .desktop file:
1. Open MS notepad
2. Write the code
3. File->Save as
4. Save as type->All files
5. Name it *******.desktop
Done! It should appear as a .desktop file.
That was a detailed tutorial.
I am waiting my N900.
Thank you great presantation
AWSOME video… I have made tons of wallpaper sets to fill my phone with (when I get it end November/start December) soon I can change Wallpaper everyday for a year and not see the same one twice
It is sooo easy and there are lots of cool pics on Flickr…
grazie ora è tutto chiaro. N900, we love you.
That mysterious file. How do u create it??
@azdarfo
In quella cartella devi creare un text file come nell’esempio con i nomi delle foto.
Poi salva quel file come .titolochevuoi.desktop
Or, if i have to create it myself, what should I do then?? Know nothing about it :O Plzz tell me
Where do I find the text file you’re useing?
qualcuno che mi sappia spiegare in italiano?
non capisco come devo fare dopo aver diviso in 4 l’immagine a 360°. devo spostarle in una cartella e basta? GRAZIE per eventuali risposte.
You mean November.
