Sony Ericsson’s First Android Phone – myluxphone

Sony Ericsson is landing a lot of firsts this year.  It launched its first Windows Mobile handset in the Xperia X1 and its first Symbian with the Satio in the last quarter of the year.  While still under wraps, the long speculated and anticipated mobile phone Rachel gets unofficial release online as the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 – Sony’s first Android smartphone and the world’s second Android Snapdragon after Acer’s Liquid A1.

Expect this to hit the market in January 2010 giving Sony Ericsson Replicaa great head start in the New Year.  There’s still no pricing information at this time, but that should come once the official announcement kicks in. But as all Android phones go and considering its premium features on the most powerful handset on earth, expect this to come at a bank-breaking price.

Fashion Sense in a Flagship Phone

Who says flagship handsets are bulky and monstrous.  That may be typical in other handset makes, but not for Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone.  At least not anymore as Sony used to make those bulky P-series handsets in its flagship line.  The new Xperia sports a stylishly slim black body that exudes the same disarming charm of a trendy high fashion handset but without the makeover from a Prada or Armani fashion house.

What stands out is its expansive 4” capacitive touchscreen with wide-VGA resolution and 16 million colors rivaled only by a few similarly fashionable flagship handsets that recently got launched.  They are the LG BL40 Chocolate and the Acer Liquid A1.

It’s exceeded only by the HTC HD2 but only on the screen size.  The Xperia X3 trumps them all with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with 8x digital zoom and LED flash with support for full VGA recording at a cinema-grade 30 frames per second.

As can be gleaned from unofficial product specification leaks on the net, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 is your basic quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and a twin and YMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA on the 3G network for blazing fast internet surfing and downloading. It runs on the Qualcomm QSC8250 Snapdragon CPU and its Android 1.6 Donut OS carries the Rachel user interface said to provide a smoother and more intuitive feel on the handset.

It sports the same Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and WiFi 802.11b/g that other flagships have, though the WiFi could be the more advanced 802.11n. There’s the usual high end media players, a stereo FM radio, Bluetooth A2DP for wireless headsets and a 3.5mm headphone jack that round off its multimedia feature set.

Video calls on 3G are supported by a front0facing secondary camera.  There’s an average 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 32GB form its microSD slot.

X3 or X10

As always, speculation is always rife where there are no official data to base on.  The new Replica Sony Ericsson Phone Android handset was first leaked on the net under the code name Rachel.  Sony itself may have leaked out that Rachel will be commercially released as the X3.  Now, the net gets another leak that it will be the X10 when it gets officially announced later.  But no matter, the market knows what handset these various designations are referring to, and the anticipation gets fever pitched every day for the latest SE Android flagship on the most powerful handset.
