HELP – people that know their stuff about phones : Can I turn wi-fi on?

Sarah posted:

Okay so I just got my htc dream phone yesterday, and I’m not really sure what wi-fi is but would it hurt to turn it on?
Nothing would show up on my phone bill or anything right?
I have 500 mb and my provider is rogers.

First of all Wi-Fi Stands For Wireless Fidelity
Second, Wi-Fi is usually free,so your not likely to get a bill, but be sure to check your phone handbook/manual anyway.

    wow, 0, ur hilarious…

but wi-fi is internet access basically. you can get wi-fi signals anywhere where there is a wireless router available. so if you laptop can get wi-fi connection in a area, ur phone can to. the 500 mb is 7G speeds (i think its 7g speeds in canada). using wi-fi does not take mb out of this. the 500mb of data is for the 7g speeds only. (here in the US, they only have 3g speeds and wi-fi is faster than 3g. in canada…maybe 7G is faster)

so yes you can turn on wi-fi and get free internet in some places without anything changing on your phone bill.
